Commemorating Su Dongpo, a leading scholar of the Song Dynasty, the Dongpo Academy of Classical Learning is located about 40 km northeast of Danzhou City off the Western Expressway.

The site marks the site where Su Dongpo lived and lectured during his time of exile on Hainan Island. The academy was rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty and is regarded today as an important cultural relic. The site is noted for traditional Chinese doorway, pavilion and shrine.
