First Well in Southern China

Image of First Well in Southern ChinaOfficial records show that the First Well in Southern China was sunk some 2,000 years ago by a general in the Han Dynasty.

A stone tablet, or stele, in the nearby Memorial Temple for General Fubo is inscribed with the words "The Han Dynasty Ma Fubo's Well". Located in Luodai Township about five km south of Basuo Township, the well is 2.7 m in diameter and is fed by pure natural spring water to ensure it remains fresh year-round.
