One of the largest salt fields in Hainan Province, Yinggehai Salt Field located on the southwestern seashore of Ledong County has long been an important site for the drying and salting of fish.

The salt field was officially established as a fish production site in 1958 and covers an area of about 60 sq km. The sun-drenched field is shielded from northern winds and other elements by Jianfengling Ridge and is noted for the high salinity of the nearby seawater.
